PHILIPSBURG…..On April 7th 2013, the Ombudsman, Dr. Nilda Arduin will be leaving Sint Maarten to attend the second Board of directors meeting of the International Ombudsman Institution ( I.O.I.) in Vienna, Austria. Allocation of the regional funds for sponsorship of the Haitian Ombudsman to attend the 7th Biennial CAROA Conference to be held on Sint Maarten from
May 5-9th 2013 and part funding of the SYT (“Sharpen Your Teeth”) Workshop during the conference to be conducted by the renowned Ombudsman of Canada, Mr. André Marin, will among others be discussed.
Regional Director
Dr. Arduin was appointed as one of the regional directors for the Caribbean and Latin America region at the I.O.I. meeting in New Zealand in November 2012. Her term is for four years.
During her stop-over in the Netherlands the Ombudsman will have a working visit with the Bureau of the National Ombudsman and meet with the National Ombudsman, Mr. Alex Breninkmeijer.
She will also pay a courtesy visit to the Minister Plenipotentiary, Mr. Mathias Voges, meet with the Ombudsman of Amsterdam, Mr. Ulco van de Pol, and will have discussions with S-4 ,one of the executing government agencies in the Netherlands, regarding the Ombudsman competency.
The Ombudsman is expected back on Sint Maarten on April 17th 2013 in time for the Regional CAROA Conference, hosted by the Ombudsman on Sint Maarten from May 5-9 2013.
